Transfer Possible Without Baggage Handling or Seat Reassignment Through Initial Check-in
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] From now on, passengers using connecting flights between Jin Air and Korean Air will be able to transfer without any separate procedures with just one initial check-in.
Jin Air announced on the 2nd that it has signed an IATCI (Inter-Airline Through Check-In) agreement, a connecting check-in service, with Korean Air for all international routes, becoming the first low-cost carrier (LCC) to do so.
IATCI is a service that allows passengers using connecting flights between airlines to receive seat assignment, boarding pass issuance, and baggage check-through to the final destination with just one initial check-in. With this agreement, passengers transferring at Incheon International Airport and other locations via Jin Air and Korean Air can skip the procedures of retrieving and rechecking baggage or reassigning seats and board the connecting flight directly.
With this IATCI agreement, Jin Air expects not only increased convenience for passengers but also significant benefits in attracting future transfer demand. For example, the demand between the Americas, Korea, and Southeast Asia, where transfer demand is high, is representative. Passengers traveling from the Americas via Korean Air to Southeast Asia or vice versa can conveniently use connecting flights without any separate procedures with just one initial check-in.
Jin Air stated, "We hope this agreement will improve the convenience for transfer passengers between the two airlines," and added, "We will continue to develop various services for the convenient travel of customers using Jin Air."
