[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Ministry of Environment is forming a 'Hydrogen Charging Station Construction Advisory Group' and will hold its first meeting on the morning of the 3rd at the Government Sejong Complex.

The Ministry of Environment has listened to field suggestions related to hydrogen charging station construction through meetings and has organized an advisory group consisting of 19 experts in various fields such as design, gas, safety, and equipment.

The first meeting will focus on discussing the feasibility of candidate sites for hydrogen charging stations, issues related to permits and approvals, and anticipated conflicts.

The Ministry of Environment is investigating public idle sites owned by affiliated and subordinate organizations, central government agencies, and local governments to promptly secure sites suitable for hydrogen charging stations.

Based on the discussion results of this meeting, the advisory group plans to systematically survey the identified sites on location.

The advisory group will share best practices such as administrative procedure simplification measures and strengthening communication with local residents. Customized consultations will be provided at each construction stage to support the rapid establishment of hydrogen charging stations.

Meanwhile, according to the Green New Deal promotion plan, the Ministry of Environment plans to build a total of 310 hydrogen charging stations by 2022, including 250 stations in urban areas and 60 stations on highways.

Kim Seung-hee, Director of Air Environment Policy at the Ministry of Environment, stated, "We will strengthen cooperation with experts to ensure hydrogen charging stations are established as soon as possible."
