Fire on 12th Floor of Gunpo Apartment... 4 Dead, 7 Seriously Injured (Update)

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] At around 4:37 PM on the 1st, a fire broke out on the 12th floor of the 25-story H Apartment in Sanbon-dong, Gunpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, resulting in at least four deaths.

The fire authorities have confirmed casualties including 4 dead, 1 critically injured, and 6 with minor injuries. Among the deceased, two fell from the 12th floor to the ground, and the other two were found dead on the rooftop stair landing.

The fire department deployed 90 firefighters and about 30 pieces of equipment including helicopters and pump trucks, completing the extinguishing operation by around 5:11 PM, approximately 30 minutes after the fire started.

The police have obtained statements indicating that remodeling work was underway at the time of the fire and are investigating the cause of the fire.
