According to the Korea Forest Service on the 1st, the mentor group participates in major forest policy projects and innovation activities. The mentor group was launched in 2018 with the purpose of inducing public interest in the forestry sector and expanding public participation in forest policy.
The members selected through this year’s recruitment will be active for two years from January 1, next year, to December 31, 2022.
The number of recruits excludes 243 members of the 1st mentor group who wished to renew their term. The Korea Forest Service organizes the total number of members to 365, meaning that mentor group activities are continuously ongoing.

New mentor group members will choose one of five fields?planning and coordination, international forest cooperation, forest industry policy, forest welfare, etc.?and continue activities by region.
Meanwhile, the Korea Forest Service plans to select candidates by comprehensively evaluating applicants’ activity capabilities and interests based on their residence, understanding of forest policy, and willingness to participate. Successful candidates will be announced on the Korea Forest Service website on the 14th of this month.
Applications can be submitted by downloading the application form from the online ‘National Idea Box,’ filling it out, and submitting it via email. More detailed information can be found on the Korea Forest Service website.
Park Jong-ho, head of the Korea Forest Service, said, “This year, mentor group activities faced many restrictions due to COVID-19. However, the mentor group selected for the 2nd term will set a new direction for activities suited to the non-face-to-face era and operate as a catalyst to greatly expand public participation in forest policy.”
