"No Need for Extra Points for Women... Compete Based on Ability"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Jo Eun-hee, Mayor of Seocho District, officially announced her candidacy for the Seoul mayoral by-election next year on the 1st.
On the same day, Mayor Jo said on Facebook that she met with Emergency Response Committee Chairman Kim Jong-in, Floor Leader Joo Ho-young, and Secretary-General Jung Yang-seok to "report her candidacy."
Mayor Jo conveyed that Chairman Kim advised her, "There is no need to criticize the Moon Jae-in administration; we must win the hearts of the citizens. Show the citizens a blueprint for solving problems."
Regarding the female bonus points, Mayor Jo stated, "The position of Seoul mayor, responsible for protecting the lives and safety of ten million citizens, should be decided by capability rather than gender. Female bonus points are unnecessary in this Seoul mayoral election."
Mayor Jo said, "I will gradually reveal my vision for Seoul, including real estate and tax issues. I will take steps to become a hopeful mayor who gives the future to the youth and a plus mayor who enriches the lives of citizens."
Chairman Kim also commented on Mayor Jo's candidacy, saying, "Since she has expressed her intention to run, I told her to actively participate in the primary and achieve good results."
