[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] InfraWare, a company specializing in office software (SW), announced on the 1st that it received the Minister of Science and ICT Award, the highest prize of the ‘2020 27th SW Quality Insight Conference,’ for the ‘2020 SW Quality Innovation Award.’
Organized by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), the ‘SW Quality Innovation Award’ is given to companies that have contributed to the development of the SW industry by achieving innovative improvements in SW quality using SW engineering technology as exemplary cases. Three companies are selected and given additional points when chosen for the next year’s ‘SW Engineering Technology Field Application Support Project’ to promote the improvement of SW quality among related companies.
InfraWare was recognized for its contribution to strengthening the global quality competitiveness of the domestic SW industry in the national project conducted this year, ‘Securing SW Structure and Code Quality of the Polaris Office Product Line through Reengineering,’ and received the highest prize, the Minister’s Award. Following this, Myung Jiho, Deputy General Manager of InfraWare, presented the research results of the national project as an excellent case of SW engineering application.
This project aims to improve the Polaris Office engine and internalize it through the SW engineering technology field application support project to secure product stability and strengthen the global quality competitiveness of the Polaris Office product line. InfraWare improved the common engine used in the Polaris Office product line by removing duplicate code, reducing static defect density, eliminating unintended dependency ratios, and improving function complexity.
Myung Jiho, Team Leader of the InfraWare Office Research Team, stated, “Through engine quality improvement, the overall stability and quality of the product lines have been enhanced. As a result, the annual cost to add new features was reduced by about 17%, and the defect report rate decreased from the previous 80% to 40%, indicating the potential for significant sales growth in the future.”
He added, “This highest prize award clearly shows that InfraWare is systematically improving and stabilizing the office engine. We will continue to steadily improve the office engine through reengineering and provide services that enhance user convenience, aiming to maximize corporate sales in the non-face-to-face work environment.”
Meanwhile, InfraWare also received the Excellence Award, the NIPA Director’s Award, in 2019 for a national project on ‘Advancing the Code Analysis-Based Deployment Configuration Management System to Secure Global Competitiveness.’
