[Asia Economy, reporter Lee Jieun] Former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joonpyo criticized Prosecutor General Yoon Seokyeol, calling him "the worst political prosecutor in the history of the prosecution," and described the situation as "reaping what you sow."
On December 1, Hong wrote on Facebook, "From the very beginning of the Moon administration, the so-called 'eradication of deep-rooted evils' investigation led by Prosecutor General Yoon was not a criminal investigation but a political one," making this claim.
He added, "The establishment of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, which the ruling party is pushing for, is in fact creating yet another top-level political investigative agency-a state within a state. Even though Prosecutor General Yoon has devoted himself to serving the Moon administration, they are pushing ahead with the establishment of this office to downgrade the prosecution to a second-tier investigative body. As a result, Yoon has begun to resist by targeting the administration's Achilles' heel, and Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae has responded by taking the unprecedented step of suspending Yoon from his duties. This is the essence of the recent internal revolt within the prosecution."
Hong concluded, "Both the Moon administration and Prosecutor General Yoon are reaping what they sow. The prosecution is truly in a pitiful state. This is a classic case of 'To-Sa-Gu-Paeng' (the hunting dog is cooked after the rabbit is caught)."
