[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] LS Electric has decided to support the digital transformation (DX) and the spread of smart factories in Banwol·Sihwa Industrial Complex in Ansan City, Gyeonggi Province, the first smart industrial complex in South Korea.
On the 1st, LS Electric announced that it signed a business agreement with the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation Gyeonggi Banwol Sihwa Smart Industrial Complex Project Group regarding the "Digital Transformation and Smart Factory Distribution Expansion of Banwol·Sihwa National Industrial Complex."
Through this agreement, LS Electric will distribute the open smart factory platform 'Tech Square' in the Banwol·Sihwa Industrial Complex and dispatch smart factory mentoring experts to provide close consulting.
Since LS Electric launched Tech Square last year, about 250 small and medium-sized manufacturing companies have been receiving various information related to smart factories and utilizing services such as free mentoring, optimal supplier matching, and customized maintenance.
Companies wishing to participate can receive services including a 6-week free mentoring program related to on-site diagnosis by LS Electric experts and application technologies necessary for advancement, optimal supplier matching, project management, and maintenance.
The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation Gyeonggi Banwol Sihwa Smart Industrial Complex Project Group is responsible for promoting smart factory support projects and recruiting participating companies among the complex's enterprises, as well as managing and operating the projects.
Kwun Bong-hyun, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of LS Electric's Automation Company-In-Company (CIC), said, "Through LS Electric's experience in building smart factories and platform capabilities, we will actively participate in spreading smart factories to strengthen manufacturing competitiveness together with the Gyeonggi Banwol Sihwa Smart Industrial Complex Project Group, which is leading digital transformation and smart factory distribution amid the crisis caused by COVID-19."
