Ministop Launches Fast Food Specialty Store 'Superbites'

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Convenience store Ministop has launched a small fast food specialty store focused on delivery, pickup, and takeout as a new business.

Ministop announced on the 1st that it will open the first 'Superbites' fast food specialty store in Sinchon. Superbites is a delivery, pickup, and takeout specialized brand that offers the nation's most popular fast foods such as hamburgers, chicken, coffee, and soft cream at reasonable prices by cutting out the unnecessary costs.

The name Superbites, meaning to take a big bite, conveys the intention to provide customers with delicious food that can be fully enjoyed in the mouth. The Superbites logo is represented by a line graphic that symbolically depicts the process of making the signature products, hamburgers and soft cream. Additionally, a vivid yellow with high saturation was chosen as the brand color to express a young and energetic atmosphere.

To respond to the rapidly increasing demand for contactless consumption, 'Superbites' has strengthened services for contactless ordering through kiosks as well as delivery, pickup, and takeout. Delivery and pickup services are available through various delivery apps.

The first Superbites store is 80㎡ (approximately 24 pyeong) in size, featuring 24 seats and an open kitchen where customers can observe the cooking process. The menu offers over 40 items including hamburgers, chicken, coffee, and soft cream. The signature menu includes the 'Superbites Chicken Burger' (3,800 KRW), which harmonizes whole chicken thigh meat with various vegetables; boneless 'Sunsal Chicken' made from chicken thigh meat (12,000 KRW); and 'Soft Milk Cone' (2,500 KRW), which contains over 50% raw milk and about 6% milk fat.

Starting with the Sinchon first store opening, Ministop plans to expand stores focusing on residential areas with high demand for delivery, pickup, and takeout services and good customer accessibility, in line with the business concept.

Sim Gwan-seop, CEO of Ministop, said, "Ministop, which has been supported by customers for 30 years in the convenience store business, has introduced Superbites after recruiting dining experts and preparing for over a year based on the know-how of combo stores combining fast food accumulated so far." He added, "Through Superbites, a new growth engine, we aim to popularize and streamline fast food chains, and we will continue various challenges to respond to customers' new lifestyles through change and innovation."
