Yoon Hee-sook: "Kim Hyun-mi, Market Stability by Next Spring? Can We Trust This Time?"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Yoon Hee-sook, a member of the People Power Party, expressed skepticism about Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hyun-mi's statement that "the market will stabilize by next spring," asking, "Did you suddenly gain market insight that you didn't have when you pushed through the Lease Protection Act last July?"

On the 1st, Yoon said on Facebook, "Please properly explain whether we can trust this time."

She questioned, "(The government) said at the time of passing the three lease laws that 'landlords do not have enough funds to withdraw their properties, so there will be no market shock,' and when the jeonse chaos began in August, they said 'the chaos will be resolved in three months.' Recently, the economic chief said 'it will stabilize early next year,' and now the Minister of Land says next spring?"

Regarding Minister Kim's recent remark that "if apartments were bread, I would make them all night," Yoon commented, "Unlike bread, apartments have long construction periods, so it probably means her role is limited," adding, "Rather, because of this, government policies need to be more systematic and earn the trust of the people, a point she seems to have consistently forgotten, which is regrettable."

She said, "Even if apartments were bread, it does not negate the need to correct the current government direction. If fresh bread is available in the afternoon, meaning popular bakeries always have popular bread available in the afternoon and at quitting time, there is no need to crowd in front of the bakery from the morning." This implies that apartments (popular bread) that are highly favored by housing demand groups should be supplied abundantly.

Yoon also said, "So do not block those who want to open bakeries in prime urban areas, or those who want to renovate bakery interiors and change machines to make bread that the new generation likes. Everyone likes different bread, so don't insist that building many bakeries in new towns is reassuring," criticizing, "It is really bad for the government to force people to 'enjoy eating with adults' by pushing retro bread made with full bread machines." This was aimed at Jin Sun-mi, head of the Democratic Party's Future Housing Promotion Team, who said last month after touring public rental housing, "You will enjoy living with adults."
