[Asia Economy Reporter Nowrae Noh] ○…Next year's PGA Tour Farmers Insurance Open will be held without spectators.
Golf Channel reported on the 1st (Korean time) that "the tournament organizing committee decided on no spectators due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19," adding, "After close discussions with the PGA Tour and local officials, it was concluded that the health and safety of participants are the top priority." The event will take place over four days starting January 28 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California. The defending champion is Mark Leishman (Australia).
The PGA Tour was unable to hold tournaments from March to June this year due to COVID-19. The schedule resumed in June but continued to be held without spectators, with a small number of spectators allowed at the Houston Open in November. Prior to that, partial gallery attendance was permitted at the Corales Puntacana Championship in September and the Bermuda Championship in October, both held outside the United States. However, the Houston Open, Masters, RSM Classic, and Mayakoba Classic were again held without spectators.
