GS25 Partners with Naver for 'Convenience Store Parcel Prepayment' Service

Parcel Reservation and Payment All in One

GS25 Partners with Naver for 'Convenience Store Parcel Prepayment' Service

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] GS Retail’s convenience store GS25 is launching a nonstop service that allows customers to complete parcel reservation and payment all at once through the Naver search bar.

GS25 announced on the 1st that since the 19th of last month, customers can search for keywords such as ‘GS25’ or ‘convenience store parcel’ on Naver, select a nearby store from the displayed options, and proceed with parcel reservation and payment through the ‘Parcel Reservation’ button.

Previously, customers had to pre-register parcel items via web or app and then complete payment in person at the store with the staff. However, logistics specialist GS Networks developed a new service in collaboration with Naver to enable faster parcel sending. By making advance payments through Naver Pay, customers can send parcels more conveniently and quickly, which is expected to increase customer satisfaction.

Additionally, if customers make advance payments using Naver convenience store parcel service, they will earn 1% of the payment amount, plus an additional 2% from Naver convenience store parcel reservation, totaling 3% Naver Points, which can be used for future Naver Pay payments. If the parcel is not registered within two weeks after payment, the payment will be automatically canceled.

Han Seung-min, Lifestyle Platform Manager at GS Networks, said, “Due to the impact of COVID-19 and other factors, customers tend to use non-face-to-face methods such as parcel delivery rather than handing over items directly. To provide more convenient services, we partnered with Naver.” He added, “We are discussing with Naver ways to improve access routes to the reservation page and expand its exposure so that secondhand transaction users and local small business owners can use it more easily.”

Jeon Byung-jun, Service Planning MD at GS Retail, said, “In line with the expansion of the premium convenience and non-face-to-face consumption trends, we introduced Naver reservation and Naver Pay advance payment systems to the GS25 convenience store parcel service.” He added, “We will continue to expand new lifestyle services closely related to daily life and improve existing services to enhance customer convenience.”
