[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Joo Ho-young, the floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized the current government's push to launch the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (HCIC) by saying "Former President Roh Moo-hyun is crying." In response, Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, called it "the height of shamelessness" on the 30th of last month.
On that day, Lee wrote on his Facebook, "Floor Leader Joo accused President Moon by saying, 'He is trying to amend the HCIC law to appoint his own person as the head of the HCIC and complete immunity,' and he shamelessly makes slanderous remarks beyond criticism," expressing his stance.
He added, "What is even more speechless is that he pressured by saying, 'Former President Roh, who calmly accepted the prosecution's investigation, is crying,'" and said, "It is utterly unbelievable even after seeing it."
He continued, "This is defamation against the late former President Roh and cannot but be an insult to all the people who tried to protect the President," he pointed out.
He also raised his voice, saying, "16 years ago, the then Grand National Party lawmakers insulted former President Roh in a filthy and vile way through a play called 'Hwan Saeng Gyeongje' (Reincarnation Economy). How angry must the people who saw this have been? What role did Floor Leader Joo play? How can you now distort the late President's will and insult him?"
In 2004, during the Roh Moo-hyun administration, the opposition party at the time, the Grand National Party, presented a political satire play depicting former President Roh as 'Nogari,' a father drowning in alcohol. At that time, Floor Leader Joo played the lead role of 'Nogari,' a parody of the President.
Regarding this, Lee said, "No matter how loose a politician's tongue is, this is the height of shamelessness. Please have some shame before the people," adding, "The people are crying over politics that forget the past and know no shame."

Earlier, on the 29th of last month, Floor Leader Joo wrote on his Facebook, "The Republic of Korea's republican system is now in crisis. Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae, who dances with a knife saying 'Under no circumstances will we be punished by law,' former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, who has restarted a public propaganda campaign, and the Democratic Party members who control 180 seats in the National Assembly openly reveal their goal: to oust Yoon Seok-youl and neutralize the prosecution."
He pointed out, "These days, a triumphant smile appears on the faces of these regime people," and said, "The moment immunity for these regime people is completed, the Republic of Korea's republican system will collapse."
Floor Leader Joo also addressed President Moon, saying, "Please think again. Is that the path you want to take? Former Presidents Kim Young-sam and Kim Dae-jung, and former President Roh, who calmly accepted the prosecution's investigation, are crying."
