Yongsan-gu, 2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign

District Office Welfare Policy Division, 16 Dong Community Centers, and Yongsan Welfare Foundation Establish Reception Desks... Contactless Payment Possible via District-Specific QR Code... This Year's Fundraising Target Set at 1.352 Billion Won, Same as Last Year

Yongsan-gu, 2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) is conducting the 2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign (hereafter referred to as Daggye) to support vulnerable groups in the area.

The Daggye campaign is a winter neighbor-helping project carried out jointly by the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul and the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest. It helps basic livelihood security recipients, elderly living alone, disabled persons, and single-parent families with donations collected from residents.

The application period is until February 15 next year, and reception desks have been set up at the district office’s Welfare Policy Division, 16 community service centers, and the Yongsan Welfare Foundation.

Residents or organizations (companies) wishing to donate money or goods can fill out a donation form and deposit funds into the district’s dedicated account (Woori Bank 015-176590-13-534 or Woori Bank 015-176590-13-546). Contactless deposits are also possible via the district’s dedicated QR code.

Individual donors can check their donation details through the National Tax Service’s year-end tax settlement simplification service. For corporations and individual business owners, the district issues donation receipts.

Donations in kind (rice, ramen, kimchi, daily necessities, etc.) are also accepted. By submitting a donation form and valuation proof documents (receipt, tax invoice, statement, ledger value confirmation, cost calculation sheet), donors can receive donation receipts just like with monetary donations.

However, used goods, summer clothing, meals, intangible services such as beauty and hairdressing, admission tickets, donated items, academy course vouchers, precious metals, luxury goods, and certain other items are not accepted as donations in kind.

This year, the district’s fundraising target is 1.352 billion KRW. Considering the COVID-19 situation, the target was kept the same as last year without an increase.

Last year, the district’s Daggye fundraising achievement was 1.42928 billion KRW (1.08039 billion KRW in cash, 348.89 million KRW in goods), exceeding the target by 5.72%. The district spent 973.69 million KRW by November on low-income household living and medical expenses, sharing kimchi with love, and youth academy linkage projects (Hope Up Dream Up).

Seong Jang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “Although we have continued the Daggye campaign every year, this year the situation is truly difficult,” and added, “Let us overcome this crisis together with warm hearts thinking of our neighbors.”
