Opening and Operation of Sinwol 3-dong Public Parking Lot from December 1... Agreement Signed for Active Management of Seoul City-Owned Parking Lots by District to Improve Parking Conditions for Local Residents

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) announced that it will newly open and operate the 'Sinwol 3-dong Public Parking Lot' starting December 1.

The Sinwol 3-dong Public Parking Lot is located at 170-6 Sinwol 3-dong, consisting of a total of 163 spaces across the 1st floor, 2nd floor, and rooftop, making it relatively large compared to other public parking lots.

This parking lot was originally owned by Seoul City but was designated as a private investment project parking lot and operated by a private company (Sae Seoul Development) for about 20 years.

However, on November 1, 2020, the contract period for the private investment company's parking lot operation expired, and during Seoul City's review of a successor management agency, Yangcheon-gu took the initiative to manage it to improve parking conditions for local residents.

The district and Seoul City signed a management consignment agreement for the Sinwol 3-dong Public Parking Lot on October 30, and they closely consulted for about a month to improve conditions such as facility repairs to ensure residents do not experience inconvenience when using the parking lot.

In particular, they carefully addressed issues including repaving and waterproofing the old parking lot floor, painting facilities, and inspecting fire-fighting equipment to ensure no inconvenience in using the parking lot.

Additionally, the internal environment was upgraded by completely replacing the parking control system with a new one to enable swift and smooth vehicle traffic.

Facility repairs were finally completed on November 25, followed by trial operations from the 26th to the 30th, and normal operations will begin on December 1.

Residents are very pleased that the operating agency has changed to Yangcheon-gu, allowing them to use the parking lot at a lower cost than before. The monthly regular parking fee, which was previously 90,000 won, can now be used for 50,000 won under the 'Yangcheon-gu Parking Lot Installation and Management Ordinance.'

Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “Sinwol 3-dong is an area where parking facility improvement is urgent due to poor parking conditions. While establishing new public parking lots is necessary to solve parking difficulties, it is important to efficiently utilize existing facilities to improve parking convenience for residents.” He added, “With the new opening of the Sinwol 3-dong Public Parking Lot, I hope the parking convenience for local residents will improve.”
