[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Former People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Seung-min criticized Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hyun-mi's statement on the 30th that "If apartments were bread, I would stay up all night to make them," saying, "This thoroughly incompetent government has failed in apartment policy, and now, instead of admitting policy failure, they blame innocent apartments for not being bread, which once again upsets the public."

On the same day on Facebook, former lawmaker Yoo said, "Who told the government to directly build apartments? The government is not a construction company. The government is not a place that builds apartments but a place that makes apartment policies," adding, "Unless it is a communist country, apartments are made by suppliers in the market. In a market economy, the government only directly intervenes in apartment construction to address housing welfare for low-income groups who cannot afford monthly rent."

Former lawmaker Yoo pointed out, "The Moon Jae-in administration also made apartment policies. In fact, they made them 24 times over three and a half years," and said, "However, these policies failed, causing insane housing prices, a crazy monthly rent crisis, and cutting off the ladder to home ownership."

He added, "They did not implement any apartment supply policies, and now they say things like this? Are they only now realizing that apartments cannot be built in a day?" He stated, "This government's apartment policy is all about 'public' whenever they open their mouths. In the minds of these government people, apartments are public, meaning the government builds them. That's why nonsense like Marie 'Pain' Antoinette comes out."
