Seo-gu announced on the 30th that it received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award for merit on the '2020 Obesity Prevention Day.'
Seo-gu has recognized the importance of prevention in advance to reduce the nationally increasing obesity rate and has been striving to create a healthy environment by actively implementing obesity prevention management projects according to life cycles.
In particular, even amid COVID-19, it is actively promoting non-face-to-face exercise programs to improve the health behaviors of local residents and has focused on adult obesity management as a leading institution in the mobile healthcare project.
Additionally, by establishing a cooperative system with the Office of Education, it promoted dietary habits and behavior improvements targeting children in after-school care classes for 1st and 2nd graders, contributing to nurturing healthy future human resources.
A Seo-gu Public Health Center official said, “Obesity is a major cause of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and various adult diseases,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to promote various projects to form healthy lifestyle habits and prevent obesity.”
