[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The first shipment of Pfizer's novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine has arrived at Chicago O'Hare International Airport in the United States.
According to U.S. media on the 29th (local time), Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine cargo was loaded onto a United Airlines cargo plane in Belgium, where the vaccine production facility is located, and arrived at O'Hare International Airport.
However, it has not been disclosed how many doses of the vaccine were included in this shipment or the exact time of arrival.
Pfizer has applied to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for emergency use authorization of the COVID-19 vaccine jointly developed with German company BioNTech. The FDA is expected to approve the emergency use of the vaccine on the 10th of next month. The U.S. government plans to distribute the vaccine nationwide as soon as FDA approval is granted.
