[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] On the 30th, three days before the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), 223 schools in 11 cities and provinces nationwide adjusted their school attendance days.

According to the Ministry of Education, based on the previous attendance days, 94 schools adjusted their attendance, and 180 schools resumed in-person classes.

By region, Chungbuk had the highest number with 60 schools, followed by Seoul with 38 schools, Gangwon with 37 schools, Busan with 34 schools, Gyeonggi with 24 schools, and Jeonnam with 20 schools.

Over the weekend, the number of newly confirmed COVID-19 student cases increased by 127, totaling 1,300. The total number of confirmed staff cases also rose by 25 to 247.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education announced on the 21st that there were no additional infections related to the secondary teacher employment exam. Tests were conducted on exam supervisors and other related contacts, all of whom tested negative. It was also added that there were no additional infections at the entrance exam academies in Mokdong and Gangnam, where confirmed cases had been reported.

If symptoms such as fever occur the day before the exam, students should visit a public health center. To support examinee diagnostic testing, public health centers will extend their operating hours until 10 PM on the 2nd of next month.

To ensure a safe CSAT, the Fire Agency will operate a special 119 situation room. Dedicated ambulance teams will assist examinees who are in self-quarantine or have difficulty moving to separate test sites, and two safety managers will be assigned to CSAT test sites.
