[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] In preparation for the 2021 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) to be held on the 3rd of next month, the police will provide security support and manage traffic to ensure the smooth progress of the exam. After the CSAT, youth protection activities will also be carried out.

The National Police Agency announced on the 30th that it plans to deploy 12,902 personnel to manage traffic around the CSAT test sites. The mobilized personnel include 3,579 local police officers, 2,665 traffic police officers, 1,356 riot police, and 5,302 model drivers and Green Mothers. Additionally, 2,694 pieces of equipment such as patrol cars and motorcycles will be deployed.

The police will first focus on supporting examinees' timely entry by concentrating on main roads within a 2 km radius of the test sites and deploying rapid response teams at congested intersections nearby to ensure smooth traffic flow. Furthermore, during the 25-minute English listening test period from 1:10 PM to 1:35 PM, they will encourage detours for cargo trucks that may cause noise on roads near the test sites to help maintain a quiet atmosphere.

Security and safety measures to prevent leakage of test questions and answer sheets will also be implemented simultaneously. On-site command posts (CP) will be established at the test question headquarters and printing headquarters to manage the situation 24 hours a day, and coordinated patrols will be conducted every two hours in cooperation with local police stations and substations. During the transportation of test questions and answer sheets, two armed police officers will be deployed to escort them jointly with the education office, and patrol cars will be stationed around the test sites to maintain order and prepare for any unexpected situations.

From the 1st to the 10th of next month, youth guidance and protection activities will be conducted before and after the CSAT. During this period, the police will inspect harmful environments such as the sale of alcohol and cigarettes to minors, and during joint inspections, they will urge compliance with quarantine rules and request that people refrain from entering multi-use facilities during the social distancing period.
