[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Coway (CEO Lee Hae-sun) announced on the 30th that it has been selected for the 'DJSI World' index for five consecutive years in the '2020 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI)' evaluation.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), which began its first evaluation in 1999, is now in its 22nd year and is recognized worldwide for its credibility in sustainability evaluation and investment. It comprehensively assesses not only a company's financial performance but also environmental and social aspects, serving as a benchmark for comparing sustainability management levels and responsible investment standards.
This year, Coway demonstrated world-class sustainability competitiveness by being included in the DJSI World index for five consecutive years, the Asia Pacific index for eight consecutive years, and the Korea index for three consecutive years. Among the 2,540 companies evaluated worldwide, 323 companies, accounting for 12.7%, were selected for the DJSI World index, with only 17 domestic companies making the list.
Coway explained that it received excellent evaluations in areas such as customer relationship management, product quality management, environmental policies and systems, and environmental and social reporting. Based on innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, Coway provides products and services that meet customer needs, and has established an industry-leading product reliability verification system to strengthen quality competitiveness and customer satisfaction. Additionally, Coway has declared a mid-to-long-term goal to achieve 100% renewable energy conversion and carbon neutrality by 2050, and has established a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 50% by 2030, proactively responding to climate change.
Lee Hae-sun, CEO of Coway, said, "We are actively fulfilling our responsibilities to customers, society, and the environment, and are making our best efforts to create sustainable value." He added, "We will continue to provide a healthy lifestyle culture through differentiated products and services, grow together with society, and become a more trusted company."
