[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased by 438 on the 30th.


The number of new confirmed cases recorded over 500 for three consecutive days from the 26th to the 28th, then stayed in the 400s for two consecutive days starting the day before. However, it is too early to conclude that the spread has slowed due to the weekend effect of reduced testing.


The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on the day, the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases rose by 438 from the previous midnight to 34,201.


Regarding the infection routes of new confirmed cases, 414 were locally transmitted and 24 were imported from overseas.


Among the locally transmitted cases, there were 158 in Seoul, 69 in Gyeonggi, 52 in Busan, 34 in Incheon, 22 in Chungbuk, 19 in Gyeongnam, 16 in Jeonbuk, 12 in Gwangju, 8 in Gangwon, 5 in Daejeon, 4 in Chungnam, 4 in Daegu, 4 in Gyeongbuk, 3 in Jeonnam, 3 in Ulsan, and 1 in Sejong.


Of the 24 imported cases, 10 were identified during quarantine upon entry. The remaining 14 tested positive while self-isolating at their residences or temporary living facilities in various regions.


The number of patients who have been declared recovered and released from isolation increased by 111 from the previous day to 27,653. The death toll rose by 3 from the previous day to 526.
