[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] LG Electronics announced on the 30th that it has introduced an indoor robot delivery solution in collaboration with GS Retail.

LG Electronics recently launched a pilot robot delivery service using the ‘LG CLOi ServeBot’ at the GS25 Gangseo LG Science Store located within LG Science Park in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

The LG CLOi ServeBot autonomously rides elevators and travels between floors from B1 to the 9th floor to deliver lunch boxes, sandwiches, beverages, and more. LG Electronics and GS Retail expect that this robot delivery solution, which can reduce human contact, will help save time for office workers as contactless services increase.

Through this pilot service, LG Electronics plans to enhance the convenience and user experience (UX) of its indoor robot delivery solution.

The LG CLOi ServeBot (drawer type) measures 50 cm in width, 50 cm in depth, and 130 cm in height. The three drawers can carry a maximum weight of 15 kg. To prevent theft or loss during delivery, the robot is equipped with a security lock. Additionally, administrators can remotely monitor the robot’s status and manage delivery history using the robot control system.

The LG CLOi ServeBot autonomously boards and disembarks elevators, freely moving between floors. When a user inputs a destination into the robot, it wirelessly communicates the floor information to the elevator to call it and then travels to the destination.

Ordering product delivery to GS25 is possible through the order function in the KakaoTalk mobile app. Once the order information is transmitted to the store, store staff load the products onto the robot and input the customer’s floor. Upon arrival at the designated floor, the robot notifies the customer via phone call and text message.

Previously, LG Electronics supplied the LG CLOi ServeBot (drawer type) to Seoul National University Hospital’s Daehan Outpatient Clinic, Ewha Medical Foundation, and the National Cancer Center. It is also operating the LG CLOi ServeBot (shelf type) in about 50 restaurants in partnership with Woowa Brothers.

Jung Won-jin, Executive Director of Robot Business Development at LG Electronics, said, "In line with the expansion of contactless services, we will lead with robots that can be easily encountered in daily life to create new customer value in various spaces such as hotels, hospitals, restaurants, and offices."
