[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Apple Store's second branch will open at IFC Mall in Yeouido, Seoul.

On the 30th, Apple posted a notice on its website titled "See you soon at Apple Yeouido." The store location is B1 floor of IFC Mall, 10 Gukjegeumyung-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.

Apple stated, "The second Apple Store in Korea will soon arrive in the vibrant heart of Seoul," and "Apple Yeouido will be a space for everyone to blossom ideas and creativity."

The exact opening date of the Apple Store Yeouido branch has not been announced. Apple has been preparing the store construction at IFC Mall since this summer. When the reseller store Frisbee, which was located in IFC Mall, withdrew in August, there was speculation that the opening of the Yeouido Apple Store was imminent.

Apple's expansion of Apple Stores in Korea is interpreted as an intention to increase its domestic market share. Apple decides on store operations over several years considering factors such as city size and business plans. In particular, it is known that Apple is paying close attention to the fact that Korea was the first to launch 5G services and has established 5G infrastructure.

This is the first time in 2 years and 10 months since January 28, 2018, that Apple is opening a second store in Korea. Ahead of the store opening, Apple is recruiting employees to work at the Apple Store, including Apple Store leaders, specialists, and business pros. An Apple Store is also being built inside the Myeongdong Centerpoint building and is expected to open after completion in August next year.
