Ahn Cheol-soo Graduates in Top 10 at Seoul National University Medical School... "Not Confident Under Current Admission System"

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] On the 29th, four days before the 2021 College Scholastic Ability Test, Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, released a 'Gongsin Talk' video filmed with Kang Seong-tae, the CEO of 'God of Studying' (Gongsin).

On the 29th, Ahn released a dialogue video on his YouTube channel with Kang Seong-tae, focusing on the CSAT. He said, "With the current entrance exam system, I am not confident that I could have gotten into Seoul National University College of Medicine," adding, "I was better at solving quite difficult subjective questions rather than multiple-choice or quickly solving problems."

He continued, "At that time, I was quite good at math, and since I read a lot of books, Korean was naturally not a difficult subject. English was a bit challenging, but compared to other subjects, it was not a level that I fell behind in," and surprised everyone by saying, "When I was a student, I studied up to 20 hours a day. Even now, I can sit for about 10 hours at a time."

He added, "I believe that if you properly build your basics, it naturally applies to all other areas. I didn’t look at past exam questions but studied the textbooks properly. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to look at them, but after faithfully taking notes on the textbooks and what was taught in class and memorizing them, there was no time to solve past exam questions. Yet, I graduated within the top 10 at Seoul National University College of Medicine."

Ahn advised examinees, "What is truly important seems to be one’s mindset. Studying is difficult, but the situation is also tough due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), and students preparing for the CSAT are under even more stress," adding, "You have to be able to control your own mind."

He also comforted them by saying, "No matter how good your grades are, a person who cannot manage their mind well will live a very unhappy life," and "Whatever the result, accept it and think about taking another leap forward. If you overcome difficulties with this mindset, you will definitely achieve better results."
