[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Samsung SDI announced on the 29th through its internal online channel 'SDI Talk' that it revealed the secrets to longevity of pansori master Ahn Sook-sun.
Ahn Sook-sun, a master singer, began learning the gayageum at the age of 8 and entered the world of Korean traditional music. She has walked a single path for over 60 years to become one of the greatest pansori masters of her time.
The company explained that although the fields differ, it analyzed individuals who have walked the path of excellence for a long time to implant differentiated competitiveness and secrets to longevity within the organization, aiming to inspire an innovative spirit to leap forward as a 100-year company.
Samsung SDI analyzed Ahn Sook-sun’s secrets to longevity into three points.
Under the motto, "Preserving one's original self is the shortcut to moving forward with newness," Master Ahn has preserved the original form of pansori as it is.
The second is "thorough self-management." Ahn Sook-sun owns hundreds of scarves and always wears one when going out. Even in midsummer, she uses a fan instead of an electric fan to chase away the heat, showing meticulous care in protecting her voice as a singer.
The final secret to longevity is "a spirit of challenge." Along with outstanding artistry, Ahn Sook-sun is recognized for expanding Korean traditional music to a new level through collaborations with various music genres such as opera, classical, jazz, and musicals. She has devoted efforts to promoting Korean traditional sounds overseas.
Jeon Young-hyun, President of Samsung SDI, said, "Through Master Ahn Sook-sun, we can learn thorough self-management and a spirit of challenge as an expert in one field," and “Samsung SDI must also cultivate professionalism to establish a solid foundation of 'super-gap technology' on top of the basics of 'quality and safety' in order to lead the market amid fierce competition.”
