[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun visited Daegu on the 28th and said, "The recent COVID-19 situation in Daegu has been managed more stably compared to other regions, which is very commendable," adding, "I am glad to meet the heroes of the turnaround again."
During the surge of confirmed cases in Daegu in February and March, Prime Minister Chung, who was stationed in Daegu to lead quarantine efforts, expressed his gratitude to medical staff for their dedication while having breakfast with local healthcare workers at the Inter-Burgo Hotel in Daegu that morning.
Referring to his time stationed there, Prime Minister Chung said, "I still take pride in how the devoted efforts of medical personnel and the dignity of the citizens combined to overcome the crisis."
He continued, "With new confirmed cases nationwide remaining in the 500s for the third consecutive day, we cannot be complacent. Please defend Daegu well so that it can be the final winner."
Afterwards, Prime Minister Chung visited the Daegu Athletes' Village to inspect the internal sports facilities and quarantine status, encouraging the athletes and staff of the village.
