[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 27th that it will hold the second round of collecting old photos of Muan.
Due to difficulties in actively collecting photos through visits to village halls amid COVID-19, the county decided to collect photos year-round to secure more materials and preserve old memories.
Through the collection of old photos of Muan, which began in February, about 1,400 photos from 1931 to the present have been collected and a photo database has been established, including views of Namak-ri before the Jeonnam Provincial Government Office relocated and village scenes of Muan County from 1986.
The oldest photo donated by an individual is a 1931 photo of the completion ceremony of the Park clan ancestral shrine in Bokryong Village, donated by Mr. Park Hyun-soo of Illo-eup. Photos of Bokyong Village from 1965 and traditional wedding photos were also donated, offering a glimpse into Muan's past.
Governor Kim San said, “The photo materials steadily accumulated through the participation of residents will become a valuable asset for future generations. We hope that many people who possess precious photos of old buildings that no longer exist and memories will show great interest and participate.”
Meanwhile, residents who wish to submit photos they possess can do so at the County Office's Autonomous Administration Division or the general affairs teams of each eup and myeon.
