Honoring the Spirit of the March 15 Uprising and October 18 Democratic Movement and Providing Opportunities to Study Democratization Movements

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] The College of Liberal Arts and Convergence at Gyeongnam National University announced on the 27th that it held the ‘Hanma Character Education - Democracy and Peace Citizenship Education’ in Classroom 101 of the International Language Hall.
This education, organized by the Gyeongnam National University University Innovation Support Project Group and hosted by the College of Liberal Arts and Convergence’s Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, was prepared to commemorate the spirit of struggles to achieve democracy such as the March 15th Movement and the October 18th Democratic Uprising, and to provide a systematic study opportunity on democratization movements through Hanma Character Education.
On the day of the education, Kim Jeong-dae, director of the Gounhak Research Institute at Gyeongnam National University, and Choi Gap-sun, former president of the Bu-Ma Democratic Uprising Memorial Association, were in charge.
Director Kim Jeong-dae gave a presentation titled ‘March 15th and Gyeongnam National University,’ and former president Choi Gap-sun gave a presentation titled ‘October 18th and Gyeongnam National University,’ respectively, sharing the role of Gyeongnam National University in the democratization movement and the forms of alumni pride during the democratic uprisings.
Meanwhile, Professor Jeong Eun-sang of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at Gyeongnam National University is responsible for the ‘Hanma Character Education - Democracy and Peace Citizenship Education.’ The final project report meeting and the presentation by the research committee professors for this education program are scheduled to be held early next year.
