- Recognized for Contributions to Establishing and Advancing Gas Safety Culture, Including Compliance with Industrial Gas Standards
Airfirst Co., Ltd. (CEO Yang Hanyong) announced that it received the highest group award, the Presidential Citation, at the ‘27th Korea Gas Safety Awards’ held on the 27th at the Conrad Hotel in Seoul.
As a leading industrial gas manufacturer and supplier, Airfirst was honored for its dedication to faithfully complying with relevant standards and regulations, and for contributing to the establishment and advancement of a gas safety culture together with its customers in key national industries, partners, and local communities.
Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, the ‘Korea Gas Safety Awards’ is the largest event in the gas safety field, held since 1994 to reward those who have contributed to preventing gas accidents, ensuring public safety, and promoting national industrial development, while pledging to practice gas safety culture.
Through a top-level internal management system, Airfirst has consistently pursued the expansion and establishment of gas safety awareness with its partners, customers, and local communities, maintaining a record of ‘no accidents, no disasters’ for over 20 years. Notably, it was selected as an Excellent Workplace for Risk Assessment by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency in 2014 and as the Best PSM Workplace in 2016, maintaining the prestigious title of ‘Accident-Free Workplace’ since 2006.
Additionally, since 2008, Airfirst has operated a ‘Workplace Integrated Remote Operation Monitoring System (ROC)’ that monitors high-pressure gas transport vehicles in real-time through a multi-monitoring system. In 2012, it developed a proprietary ‘GPS Transport Management Program’ that allows real-time tracking of location and operation information for all high-pressure gas transport vehicles, ensuring thorough prevention of potential hazards during workplace and transportation processes.
Alongside safety compliance, Airfirst fulfills its social responsibilities for mutual cooperation and local community development. Since 2010, Airfirst has conducted annual gas safety inspections and gas handling safety education at Pohang University of Science and Technology. From 2016, it provided free gas facility inspections and gas handling safety education for two years at Donggang Hospital, Pusan National University Hospital, and Kosin University Hospital.
In 2017, Airfirst became the first domestic industrial gas manufacturer to obtain the ‘Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Certification for Medical High-Pressure Gas Manufacturing and Quality Control,’ currently supplying stable medical oxygen and nitrogen to various medical institutions.
Yang Hanyong, CEO of Airfirst, stated, “Prioritizing safety as the highest value and quietly practicing people-centered communication and transparent management have been the driving forces behind our continuous corporate growth.” He added, “As all employees work with one heart and dedicate themselves to workplace innovation, we will continue to grow as a company together with our employees, partners, and local communities.”
Meanwhile, Airfirst was selected in July as the industrial gas supplier for the third semiconductor plant to be constructed at Samsung Electronics’ Pyeongtaek campus, and it is expected to significantly contribute to local community development through continuous external growth and new job creation.
