[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Members of the People Power Party on the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee stated on the 27th, "According to the demands of the 'Choo Mi-ae Ministry of Justice,' the items seized during the search of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office Investigation Information Division on the 25th reportedly included investigative intelligence on prominent figures in the ruling party," and added, "We demand bipartisan verification of the seized items."
They held a press conference at the National Assembly on the same day, saying, "If the investigative intelligence on ruling party figures was taken and, to conceal this, 'trial reference materials' were disguised as 'illegal surveillance' to justify the search and seizure, this constitutes obstruction of investigation and abuse of authority."
They emphasized, "It must also be clarified whether Cho Nam-gwan, the acting Prosecutor General, was informed of the necessity and whether approval was obtained regarding the search and seizure from the head of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office Inspection Department, who does not have the authority to oversee the Prosecutor General."
