Kiturami Announces 'Smart Winter Boiler Usage Tips' Guidance

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Kiturami announced on the 27th that it will provide a "wise winter boiler usage guide" to reduce heating costs during the winter season.

Kiturami emphasizes that reducing heat loss is the most important factor in lowering heating costs during winter. By applying insulation materials to windows and sealing door gaps with weatherstripping in advance, indoor warmth can be maintained longer, helping to save on heating expenses.

Maintaining the appropriate indoor temperature of 18~21℃ during winter is also effective in saving heating costs. If the set temperature is high, the boiler operates more to maintain the indoor temperature, which increases heating expenses accordingly.

Instead of turning off the boiler when leaving the house, using the away mode can reduce heating costs. Turning off the boiler during severe cold winter days causes the indoor temperature to drop rapidly, which can lead to pipe freezing, and reheating the indoor temperature consumes more fuel, increasing heating costs.

On the other hand, the away mode maintains the indoor temperature around 8℃, allowing the temperature to be raised to the set level with relatively low output and operating time, saving heating costs and preventing pipe freezing accidents.

If the boiler installed at home has Internet of Things (IoT) functionality, it is recommended to actively use it. When you forget to switch to away mode before leaving, you can easily control the home boiler with a smartphone or other mobile device to save heating costs.

If the gas boiler has been used for more than 10 years, it poses a high risk of safety accidents and has reduced thermal efficiency, so it is better to replace it with a new product. In Korea, the recommended usage period for gas boilers is set at 10 years.

Instead of raising the boiler temperature, wearing thermal underwear or using carbon mats in the bed or living room can help reduce concerns about heating costs.
