[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 27th that on the 25th, it conducted an online youth video exchange with its sister city, Huzhou City (湖州市), China, using the online cloud meeting platform Umeet.
This video exchange was held as a non-face-to-face online meeting instead of the in-person meetings that could not take place due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. The purpose was to continue the "Youth Homestay Exchange" that has been conducted annually since 2014 between students of Yeongam Girls' High School and students of Huzhou New Century Foreign Language School in China.
Students from Yeongam Girls' High School and Huzhou City shared their school life and daily experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic through this video conference, easing the regret of not being able to meet in person due to the pandemic.
Im Moon-seok, General Affairs Manager, said, "I hope this meeting will continue to foster precious connections among the students," and added, "We will strive to activate video exchanges in the future to ensure continuous exchanges with overseas sister and friendship cities."
Meanwhile, the "Youth Homestay Mutual Exchange" was planned in 2013 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Yeongam-gun and Huzhou City, China. Every year, it provided youth from both cities with opportunities to learn about and directly experience each other's history and culture, strengthening the friendship between the youth of the two countries.
