[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Intops, a first-tier partner in Samsung Electronics' mobile phone case division, announced on the 27th that it has delivered a total of over 60 million KRW in scholarships for the second half of this year to 33 selected university and middle/high school students through the 'Intops Pyeongsan Scholarship Foundation.' The Intops Pyeongsan Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships twice a year, in the first and second halves of the year, to selected scholars.
The Intops Pyeongsan Scholarship Foundation was established with the philosophy that "the path toward dreams should be fair to everyone," aiming to support the studies of students from financially disadvantaged families. It was founded in December 2015 through contributions from Intops Corporation, Chairman Kim Jae-kyung, CEO Kim Geun-ha, and others. The scholarship program is funded through dividends and interest income generated from the donated stocks and cash.
Since the scholarship program officially began in 2016, approximately 250 students have received about 430 million KRW in scholarships to date.
Scholarship certificates and funds for the selected students will be delivered through their respective schools. According to the company, priority was given to students facing academic difficulties due to family circumstances such as single-parent families, multicultural families, or families where parents are unemployed or undergoing medical treatment.
Since its establishment, the Intops Pyeongsan Scholarship Foundation started with scholarships for middle and high school students and has now expanded its support to university students. Going forward, the foundation plans to diversify and expand the methods and scale of support through continuous engagement with the selected students in the mid to long term.
Kim Jae-kyung, Chairman of Intops, stated, “Education is a crucial foundation for the nation and society’s future. It is regrettable that some students miss educational opportunities or cannot fully focus on their studies due to difficult family circumstances. Through the Intops Pyeongsan Scholarship Foundation, we want to help students in need not only develop personally but also become talents who can contribute to society.”
Meanwhile, Intops is actively engaged in various corporate social responsibility activities, including the 'Happiness Sharing Project' supporting lower-income groups, providing homes for pediatric cancer patients in Cheonan, sponsoring children-headed households, supporting UNICEF, operating a talent donation street gallery, and running a hardware startup support program.
