Eonju Lee: "Democratic Party Protecting Chu Is No Different from Dictatorial Forces"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Amid ongoing political disputes over Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae's order to suspend Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol from his duties, former Future United Party (predecessor of the People Power Party) lawmaker Lee Eon-ju, who declared his candidacy for the Busan mayoral by-election, criticized on the 27th, saying, "I cannot help but feel anger when seeing their current behavior."

On this day, Lee posted on his Facebook, stating, "Because of the fake democratization forces, democracy in the Republic of Korea is dying."

He sharply criticized, saying, "The democratization forces who once fought against authoritarian regimes while shouting for democratization?are the so-called democratization forces within the Democratic Party now different people? Their shameless behavior is astonishing."

He claimed, "Watching the democratization forces, whom I once admired greatly, kill democracy in the Republic of Korea with their own hands is truly saddening," and added, "The democratization forces who have become vested interests have now become monsters who have even forgotten where their political assets came from."

He continued, "Those who once shouted for the overthrow of dictatorship have now become the dictatorship forces themselves. They have turned proud Korea into a dictatorship," and pointed out, "The dictatorial regimes they once denounced were events from over 50 years ago, but do they really think their current dictatorship can be justified?"

Lee said, "Because I am preparing to run for Busan mayor due to the sorrow of seeing my hometown Busan dying, I had been stepping back even as the country was collapsing and democracy was dying, but now I cannot tolerate it anymore," raising his voice, "The fake democratization forces destroying democracy must now be expelled from power."

He also added, "Minister Choo must immediately withdraw the order to suspend Prosecutor General Yoon and resign voluntarily," and said, "The so-called democratization forces within the Democratic Party shamelessly defend Minister Choo and President Moon. It is truly astonishing."
