Fundraising Target Set at 910 Million Won Until February 15 Next Year
"Love Temperature Tower" Unveiled at District Office Plaza on November 25
[Asia Economy, Reporter Park Jongil] Guro District (District Mayor Lee Sung) is launching the "2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign."
On November 27, Guro District announced that it will carry out the "Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign" until February 15 next year to support low-income and vulnerable groups.
The "Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign" is a project aimed at raising welfare funds for neighbors in need who are left out of the social safety net. Each year, Guro District accepts donations in cash and in kind in partnership with the Seoul Community Chest of Korea and the Guro Hope Welfare Foundation.
This year's fundraising target is 910 million won.
Those who wish to participate can donate funds to the Guro District account of the Seoul Community Chest of Korea (Woori Bank 015-176590-13-520, Community Chest of Korea Seoul Branch) and submit a cash donation form to the Welfare Policy Division at the district office.
Donations in kind, such as rice, kimchi, blankets, and clothing, can be made through the Welfare Policy Division or at each neighborhood community center.
This year, due to COVID-19, a contactless donation method has also been introduced. Donors can participate by scanning the donation-only QR code available on the district office website and at each neighborhood community center using their smartphones.
All donors will receive tax deduction benefits, such as donation receipts, and all donated funds and goods will be used for welfare programs supporting basic livelihood security recipients, low-income families, and other neighbors in need within the district.
Meanwhile, to encourage residents to participate in sharing and to promote the campaign, Guro District held an unveiling ceremony for the "Love Temperature Tower" on November 25 at the district office plaza. The event was held briefly with only a minimum number of attendees to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
District Mayor Lee Sung stated, "Due to COVID-19, it is expected that vulnerable residents will face a colder and more difficult winter," and added, "We ask for your interest and active participation so that everyone can have a warm winter."
