[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is publicly recruiting three temporary workers to work at the ‘Dawn Job Shelter’ in 2021.
Applicants must be Geumcheon-gu residents aged 19 or older, in good physical health, and able to work during dawn hours.
The application period is from December 8 to December 11.
Those who wish to participate can download the application form and other documents from the Geumcheon-gu website, fill them out, and submit them in person to the Job Creation Division on the 9th floor of Geumcheon-gu Office.
The hiring process consists of a first round of document screening and a second round of interviews. The final successful candidates will be announced on December 21 on the Geumcheon-gu Office website and notified individually.
Hired workers will work five days a week, four hours a day, from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m., performing tasks such as ‘shelter setup,’ ‘beverage provision,’ ‘surrounding environment maintenance,’ and ‘checking users’ temperatures and recording visitor logs.’
The daily wage is 57,970 KRW, reflecting the 2021 Geumcheon-gu living wage (hourly wage of 10,540 KRW) plus an additional wage for dawn work (3 hours).
Meanwhile, the ‘Geumcheon-gu Dawn Job Shelter’ operates year-round at the Doksan Hill Dawn Labor Market (sidewalk in front of 475 Siheung-daero) to support construction day laborers seeking jobs at dawn.
The shelter is equipped with conveniences such as heaters and chairs for day laborers, as well as a variety of beverages including coffee and tea.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “Since the area around the dawn labor market tends to have a dense gathering of unspecified many people at certain times, thorough quarantine management such as encouraging dispersed waiting is necessary. We hope residents will participate responsibly to support the convenience and quarantine management for day laborers.”
