[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Lotte Hi-Mart announced on the 27th that it will simultaneously open its 5th Megastore, Balsan Branch, and 6th Megastore, Masan Branch. In December, it plans to open the 7th store in Changwon, Gyeongnam, operating a total of seven stores within the year.

Lotte Hi-Mart Megastore is a large-scale store of over 1,652㎡ (500 pyeong), featuring a comprehensive range of premium home appliances and convenience facilities, allowing consumers to comfortably enjoy their daily lives. Since its first launch in Jamsil earlier this year, Megastores have been opened in Suwon, Ansan Seonbu, and Ulsan.

Despite ongoing social distancing measures, Lotte Hi-Mart Megastore has shown strong performance. Since the renewal opening of the first Megastore, Jamsil Branch, launched in January this year, sales from January 9 to November 26 have increased by 35% compared to the same period last year.

The Megastore Balsan Branch will open in Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. It spans 1,700㎡ (505 pyeong) across three floors. Considering the increase in consumers interested in home decoration due to longer time spent at home, the second floor houses the home interior shop ‘LG Hausys.’ Customers can browse home appliances and receive interior consultations together. The third floor features premium brand zones for Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, respectively.

The Megastore Masan Branch will open in Seokjeon-dong, Masan-gu, Gyeongnam. It is a four-story building with 1,953㎡ (591 pyeong). The first and second floors host the popular Gyeongnam bakery ‘Yunyeondang.’ The third floor includes the Lotte Hi-Mart Service Center. For the first time, a face-to-face service center is established within the store, allowing same-day repairs for small and medium-sized appliances such as kitchen and household electronics. Also on the third floor, a ‘Healthcare Specialty Zone’ displaying massage chairs and other products is set up, enabling customers to comfortably experience them.

Moon Chong, Head of Store Development at Lotte Hi-Mart, said, “We continue to make efforts to create fun and comfortable stores for customers who visit. Lotte Hi-Mart will continue to expand Megastores where customers can stay longer and experience various lifestyles.”
