[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Office worker Han Seo-young (35) came across a free diagnostic test offered by the IPTV service 'B tv ZEM Kids' while looking for English textbooks for her elementary school child. The diagnostic test was developed through a partnership between SK Broadband's kids service ZEM Kids and the English education institution Yoon’s English. Through an 8-level test, she was able to assess her child's English proficiency and receive recommendations for English content suited to her child's level. Han said, "There is a variety of content that can interest my child, and I judged that systematic learning is possible," adding, "I am especially satisfied with the convenience of using it at home."

As homeschooling demand surged with the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), ZEM Kids has also gained attention for its personalized recommendation service. According to SK Broadband on the 27th, ZEM Kids' 'Our Child Personalized Recommendation Service' recommends educational content tailored to the child's age, level, and tendencies, and provides comprehensive learning management through diagnostic tests and reports. It also has a feature that allows up to three profiles to be registered for different children, enabling families with two or more children to use personalized recommendation services for each child.

In addition to Yoon’s English learning content, the service also recommends fairy tales and creativity-type content. It is the only IPTV in Korea that offers play content as part of its recommendation service. To help parents systematically manage their children's learning, cumulative study time by subject and recommended future study time are provided on a monthly basis.

SK Broadband leveraged this service to achieve a net increase of 129,000 IPTV subscribers in the third quarter of this year, marking the highest growth in the past four years. Choi Young-ah, head of SK Broadband’s Customer Management Group, said, "We will continue to introduce advanced recommendation services through ZEM Kids’ unique customer database management system."
