[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Yoo Sang-beom, a member of the People Power Party, demanded a state audit, saying to the Democratic Party of Korea, "If you absolutely cannot accept a state audit on Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae, then let's at least have one on Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol."
On the 27th, Yoo appeared on KBS Radio's 'Kim Kyung-rae's Strongest Current Affairs' and said, "The person who caused the current situation is Minister Choo, so our position is to include her as well, but if the Democratic Party absolutely cannot accept Minister Choo, then our party's position is to at least have one on Prosecutor General Yoon."
He added, "Lee Nak-yeon, the floor leader of the ruling party and leader of the Democratic Party, proposed a state audit. If the ruling party leader proposes a state audit but the Democratic Party refuses without any intention to cooperate, it looks like the ruling party is saying they can reverse their stance anytime depending on the situation."
Yoo said, "Since the Democratic Party is somewhat embarrassed by the situation, they might delay a bit, but I think they will eventually accept the state audit. A responsible party would naturally do so."
Regarding the Democratic Party's lukewarm attitude toward the state audit, he said, "When they suddenly back down after making such a proposal, one can only think that they realize their political action was a misstep," and pointed out that if they refuse the state audit, it means the Democratic Party admits it is a party that can change its stance anytime depending on the situation.
Yoo also spoke about President Moon, saying, "All these acts by Minister Choo to oust Prosecutor General Yoon could not have happened without the Blue House's approval or tacit consent," and emphasized, "The President initially appointed Prosecutor General Yoon thinking he was an excellent prosecutor general, but if he absolutely cannot accept the situation, it is right for the President to take responsibility and request Yoon's resignation."
