Yongsan-gu Launches Youth Jium 'Ttanji Project' Starting from the 30th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) youth community space ‘Yongsan Youth Jium (Seobinggo-ro 17, Harrington Square Public Facility Building 3rd floor)’ will operate the ‘Ttanjit Project’ starting from the 30th.
This is to revitalize the youth culture, which has been stagnant due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The project is planned with three programs: ▲Healing Bookshelf ▲Yongsan Youth Workshop ▲Garden of the Mind.
The Healing Bookshelf offers a comforting time for young people ‘tired of pretending to be okay.’ From November 30 to December 21, every Monday at 3 PM, special lectures by authors Son Hyun-nyeong and Ahn Sang-hyun will be held.
The lecture topics are set as ‘Writing to Comfort the Inner Self’ and ‘I Hope You Don’t Cry Alone.’
Author Son Hyun-nyeong wrote works such as To Such a Beautiful Me, I Favor You, and The Moment Me and the Eternal You.
Poet Ahn Sang-hyun authored Moon’s Comfort, Moon’s Confession, and Moon’s Heart. Participants should prepare notebooks and writing instruments.
The Yongsan Youth Workshop will be held four times from December 1 to 17. The lectures include making resin art keychains (December 1 at 3 PM, December 15 at 7 PM) and Christmas herbarium creation (December 4 at 3 PM, December 17 at 7 PM), with no separate materials required.
Resin art, popular among young men and women recently, refers to crafts made using resin (a synthetic resin used for model making or casting). Herbarium preserves plants in a bottle containing a special solution, used as indoor decorations.
The Garden of the Mind is a ‘Self Therapy’ course for youth. From December 2 to 16, every Wednesday at 3 PM, sessions on ‘My Psychological State Seen Through MBTI,’ ‘Mind Shower (Blind Contour Drawing, Transcription, Worry Letters),’ and ‘Healing Diary (Youth Healing Communication)’ will be conducted.
A district official said, “Any youth aged 19 to 39 who values themselves can join the Ttanjit Project,” adding, “It will provide an opportunity for self-healing to young people exhausted by studies and employment.”
All classes are free at Youth Jium. Attendance is limited to 10 people per session to comply with quarantine rules, and if necessary, the format can be changed to non-face-to-face (online). The registration site (Linktree) is posted on Yongsan Youth Jium’s Instagram.
Opened on the 13th, Yongsan Youth Jium is a youth activity space created together by the district and youth, covering an area of 710㎡. It is equipped with a book lounge, healing room, mini cinema, meeting room, shared kitchen, community hall, multipurpose studio, and exhibition room, and is open from 10 AM to 10 PM on weekdays (until 5 PM on Saturdays). It is closed on Sundays and public holidays.
Seong Jang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “We are launching the Ttanjit Project as the first business of Youth Jium,” and added, “When the COVID-19 situation improves, we will operate more diverse programs such as youth skill development, community support, and local specialized projects.”
