[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sunhee] It has been revealed that the house prices of some former aides who refused the recommendation to 'dispose of multiple homes' and left the Blue House have risen by several hundred million won. Most notably, Kim Jowon, former Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs at the Blue House, who owns two apartments in Gangnam, saw an increase of 603 million won based on the declared price.
According to the 'Status of August Interim Asset Disclosures' released through the government official gazette by the Government Official Ethics Committee on the 27th, former Senior Secretary Kim reported total assets of 3,980,990,000 won, including real estate worth 2,371,000,000 won. This is an increase of 631,680,000 won compared to the assets declared during the regular asset disclosure in March (based on December 31 of last year), which was 3,349,310,000 won.
The majority of the increase was undoubtedly in real estate. Former Senior Secretary Kim reported the value of his own apartment at Dogok Hanshin Apartment in Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, increased by 388 million won to 1,236,000,000 won, and the value of his spouse's Galleria Palace apartment in Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, increased by 215 million won to 1,135,000,000 won. In just eight months, the total increased by 603 million won.
However, this is based on the declared price by former Senior Secretary Kim, and the actual market price increase is expected to be much higher. Although he declared the Galleria Palace owned by his spouse at 1,135,000,000 won, when he attempted to dispose of it during his tenure in August, it was listed at nearly double that amount, around 2,200,000,000 won.
The house price of former National Public Relations Secretary Yeo Hyunho, who held out as the 'last single multi-home owner' and left the Blue House on the final day of the disposal deadline, also rose by 144 million won.
At the time of his resignation, former Secretary Yeo reported total assets of 1,774,040,000 won, which is an increase of 140,530,000 won from the previous declaration. He reported the value of his spouse's Samsung Apartment in Gongdeok-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, increased by 144 million won to 709,000,000 won compared to the previously declared amount.
Although not a multi-home owner, former Senior Secretary for National Communication Yoon Dohan, who left the Blue House around the same time, declared real estate assets increased by 186 million won to 1,178,000,000 won at the time of resignation.
The publicly announced land price of the Samsung Raemian Apartment 1st Complex in Singongdeok-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, jointly owned by former Senior Secretary Yoon and his spouse, rose by 151 million won to a total of 863,000,000 won. During the same period, the Samsung Raemian Apartment in Jongam-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, owned by his mother, increased by 35 million won to 315,000,000 won.
