Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok Inspects Naju Quarantine Site... Orders Full Effort to Prevent Further Infections

[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, stated, "We will make every effort to block additional COVID-19 infections."

On the 26th, Governor Kim visited Naju to inspect COVID-19 response and quarantine sites, emphasizing, "We must make every effort to block additional infections to stabilize the situation."

In Naju, local infections have been occurring consecutively, starting with a family of four confirmed with COVID-19, followed by acquaintances, coworkers, and restaurant workers.

Governor Kim expressed concern, saying, "Confirmed cases who lived daily life while asymptomatic are causing a chain of small group infections," and added, "This is a serious situation that could spread to all areas within the province."

He especially urged, "I hope residents will continue to unite their efforts as they have cooperated so far to prevent the escalation to social distancing level 2, which imposes much more restrictions on daily life and economic activities," and requested, "Please refrain from private gatherings and dinners such as year-end parties as much as possible."

Meanwhile, only in the morning of the same day, four additional local infections occurred in Naju, increasing the total number of local infections in Naju City to 25 since the 7th.

The four confirmed cases reported that day include two acquaintances related to Jeonnam case number 367, one coworker of an acquaintance, and one visitor to a restaurant operated by an acquaintance.

The provincial government dispatched the Director of the Health and Welfare Bureau to Naju to oversee the situation. At the same time, the immediate response team is focusing on detailed epidemiological investigations to quickly block the infection chain and is expanding the scope of contacts for diagnostic testing.
