Professor Lee Geon-ho of Chosun University Invited to Present at One of the World's Top 3 Dementia Conferences

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Chosun University announced on the 26th that Professor Lee Geon-ho, head of the Gwangju Dementia Cohort Research Group and a professor in the Department of Biomedical Science, was invited as a leading expert in domestic dementia research to present his research achievements at 'Dementia Forum X (DFX) Korea,' one of the world's top three international dementia conferences.

DFX is an international forum launched in 2015 by the Swedish dementia international organization 'SCI' (Swedish Care International).

SCI, established with the support of the Swedish royal family, held DFX every two years at the Stockholm Royal Palace, and after Japan in 2018, it was held in Korea this year.

The forum was broadcast live in English and Korean through the online homepage (k-dementia.com). On-site attendance was limited to invitees only due to COVID-19 prevention measures.

This forum introduced achievements in five areas: policy, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and care. This year's agenda was 'New Hope.'

Professor Lee was invited as a presenter in the diagnosis field. The presentation title was 'Korean Brain Standard Map Biomarker Based on Big Data.'

Professor Lee introduced the world's first Korean standard brain map completed with big data accumulated over the past eight years by the Chosun University Gwangju Dementia Cohort Research Group.

He also attracted the attention of attendees by presenting innovative research results that break the common belief that early diagnosis of dementia is difficult, showing that dementia can be detected early using big data.

Professor Lee said, “Based on the research group's achievements such as early diagnosis technology for dementia and the construction of dementia big data, we are accelerating efforts beyond dementia diagnosis toward new drug development. We will devote ourselves to research to overcome dementia, a challenging problem for humanity that makes life difficult not only for individuals but also for their families.”
