Greenplus to Construct Smart Farm Incubation Center at 'Gyeongnam Smart Farm Innovation Valley'

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] GreenPlus, a specialized company in advanced greenhouses and smart farms, announced on the 26th that it has signed a construction contract for the ‘Smart Farm Incubation Center Greenhouse’ at the ‘Gyeongnam Smart Farm Innovation Valley’ being built by the Korea Rural Community Corporation Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters in Miryang. The contract amount is 6.3 billion KRW, which is equivalent to 13% of last year’s sales. Construction will begin on December 1.

Following the construction contract for ‘Rental-type Smart Farm 1’ signed on the 19th, GreenPlus has secured all ongoing projects. The company also expresses strong confidence in future contracts for continuously arising projects.

The ‘Smart Farm Incubation Center’ is a facility for youth entrepreneurship education and management practice, providing systematic hands-on training for young people aspiring to start or join smart farm businesses. Young entrepreneurs trained here are given rental opportunities for rental-type smart farms within the ‘Smart Farm Innovation Valley.’

A GreenPlus official stated, “Following the contract for Rental-type Smart Farm 1, we have also signed the construction contract for the Smart Farm Incubation Center Greenhouse for young entrepreneurs,” adding, “We will design optimal educational facilities to nurture successful entrepreneurs so that trainees can quickly participate in the government’s Green New Deal smart farm growth project.”

The Smart Farm Innovation Valley is one of the government’s eight core innovation growth tasks, promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. It is being implemented proactively by the government and local governments to spread smart farms. This project integrates information and communication technology (ICT) throughout the entire process from production to processing and distribution of agricultural, livestock, and fishery products. Four innovation valleys have been designated nationwide for this initiative.
