[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Porsche Korea will launch its first pure electric sports car, the ‘Porsche Taycan,’ in the domestic market on the 26th.

Holger Geyermann, CEO of Porsche Korea, said, “We are truly delighted to introduce the Taycan, Porsche’s first pure electric sports car that sets the standard for future sports cars and marks the beginning of a new era for Porsche, to the Korean market.” He added, “Starting with the official launch of the ‘Taycan 4S,’ we plan to sequentially introduce the ‘Taycan Turbo S’ and ‘Taycan Turbo,’ further strengthening Porsche’s electric sports car product portfolio.”

The newly launched ‘Taycan 4S’ comes with two battery capacity options: a maximum 530-horsepower Performance Battery and a 571-horsepower Performance Battery Plus. A single-deck Performance Battery with a total capacity of 79.2 kWh is equipped as standard, and the Performance Battery Plus with a total capacity of 93.4 kWh is available as an option. Both models of the ‘Taycan 4S’ equipped with the Performance Battery and Performance Battery Plus can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds. The top speed is 250 km/h. Maximum charging power is 225 kW and 270 kW, respectively. According to domestic certification standards, the driving range of the Performance Battery Plus is 289 km, while the Performance Battery model is currently undergoing domestic certification.

The Porsche Taycan is the first to apply an 800-volt voltage system instead of the typical 400 volts used in existing electric vehicles. Utilizing DC energy from the rapid charging network on the road, it can drive up to 100 km with just a 5-minute charge. Under optimal conditions, it can charge from 5% to 80% battery capacity within 22 minutes and 30 seconds at a maximum output of 270 kW.

Each of the front and rear axles is equipped with one efficient electric motor, creating an all-wheel-drive system. Both driving range and continuous output benefit from the high efficiency of the PSM. The electric motor, transmission, and pulse control inverter are each combined into compact drive modules, boasting the highest power density (relative to package space) among current market models.

The chassis uses a centrally networked control system. The integrated Porsche 4D Chassis Control analyzes and synchronizes all chassis systems in real time. It includes a 3-chamber adaptive air suspension with PASM electronic damper control, as well as the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport electromechanical roll stabilization system featuring Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus. Thanks to an energy recovery system capable of up to 265 kW, about 90% of everyday braking is possible through regenerative braking alone without actual brake operation.

The design emphasizes a clean and pure form. The front features a sharply contoured wing, making it appear wider and flatter. The sleek interior lines, shortened rear C-pillar, distinct shoulder line, and sharply emphasized side and rear designs embody the typical Porsche design language.

For the first time, Porsche offers an interior with no leather through the Taycan. The interior, made from innovative recycled materials, highlights the sustainable concept of the electric sports car. The rear footwell space provides comfortable rear seating while maintaining the low height typical of sports cars.

The price of the Taycan 4S is 145.6 million KRW including VAT. The Performance Battery is equipped as standard, and the Performance Battery Plus is available as an option. Customer deliveries will begin around mid-next month.
