[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Natural Products Bio-Pharmaceutical Specialized Workforce Training Project Group at Dongshin University recently announced on the 26th that it held the "2nd Bio-Pharmaceutical Academic Festival."
This academic festival was conducted online in a non-face-to-face manner due to the spread of local COVID-19 infections.
Students from Dongshin University's Department of Food and Nutrition, Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering, and Department of Herbal Medicine Industry participated and presented and shared 15 academic achievements developed throughout the year in regular courses and extracurricular programs.
Among them, three teams who presented "Food Development Using Local Specialty Products and Antioxidant Effects" (Department of Food and Nutrition), "Study on Tablets Containing Antifungal Agent-Terbinafine Concentration" (Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering), and "Coffee Blending Using Soybeans" (Department of Herbal Medicine Industry) were awarded the Bio-Pharmaceutical Academic Award and prizes.
Additionally, another three teams who developed the "Bio-Pharmaceutical Analysis Experience Program" (Department of Food and Nutrition), "Industry-Academia Joint Research Project Discovery Program" (Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering), and "Bio-Pharmaceutical Startup Club Program" (Department of Herbal Medicine Industry) received the Bio-Pharmaceutical Excellence Award.
The award ceremony was held face-to-face after the non-face-to-face academic festival, strictly adhering to COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
The Dongshin University Natural Products Bio-Pharmaceutical Specialized Workforce Training Project Group has been operating for two years, receiving annual support of 200 million KRW after being selected for the "2019 Jeonnam Province Industry-Academia Cooperation Employment Package Course."
To cultivate customized talents for companies in the natural products bio-pharmaceutical field, it has opened and operated interdisciplinary majors and supports various extracurricular programs focused on practical fieldwork to enhance students' employment capabilities.
Project Group Director Park Kyung-mok said, "We will strive to train specialized personnel to create bio-pharmaceutical products using natural products from Jeonnam Province," adding, "We hope that they will find employment in local companies and lead the region's economic development."
