GIST Development Foundation Delivers Smart Devices and Masks to 20 Schools in Gurye

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) Development Foundation recently announced on the 26th that it delivered smart devices and masks to 20 schools in the Gurye area to bridge the digital divide caused by online learning and to encourage recovery efforts in flood-affected areas.

This social contribution project selected 20 schools through the Gurye Office of Education, and the GIST Development Foundation evenly distributed 15 smart devices and 6,000 masks.

Ko Jeong-ju, chairman of the GIST Development Foundation, who visited Gurye Dong Middle School, said, “I feel warm-hearted to carry out social contribution projects for the educational growth of our region,” and added, “We will continue to strive for sustainable regional development through ongoing social contribution projects.”

Moon Yang-sun, principal of Gurye Dong Middle School, said, “We deeply appreciate the pioneering social contribution project of the GIST Development Foundation during this difficult time of COVID-19 resurgence,” and added, “We will devote ourselves to creating a school where the educational community comes together through respect, consideration, and communication.”

Established in 1969, Gurye Dong Middle School currently has about 30 students pursuing their studies. In September, the 21st principal, Moon Yang-sun, took office and is working hard under the motto of sincerity and progress.
