1.2 Million Views, 150,000 Comments, and 17 Million Likes Recorded Across 160 Countries
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Approximately 1.2 million Hallyu fans worldwide were thrilled by the closing K-pop performance of the On:Hallyu Festival, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, and Naver.
According to the Content Agency on the 25th, the K-pop performance, which was broadcast live for three hours on Naver V LIVE on the 23rd, recorded a total of 1,179,723 views (1,366,252 views including multi-cam) from over 160 countries worldwide.
Hallyu fans who accessed the event posted more than 150,000 real-time comments such as "I love you" and "You’re awesome" whenever their favorite artists took the stage, and sent over 17 million "likes."
The On:Hallyu Festival, themed "A warm (溫) Hallyu festival where the whole world meets online," was held for a week starting from the 16th. At the online export consultation held in the COEX Grand Ballroom, 79 domestic content companies participated, and buyers from 133 companies in 14 countries across all regions including Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand met in fields such as ▲games (It’s Game) ▲broadcasting ▲animation & characters ▲immersive content ▲comics & stories, conducting 331 business matchings and networking sessions. Through this, consultation amounts reached 36.55 million USD and contract promotion amounts reached 14.5 million USD.
Kim Young-jun, president of the Korea Creative Content Agency, said, "The On:Hallyu Festival was a new Hallyu stage where the strength of K-content could be reaffirmed even during the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to a rich program created through public-private cooperation.
