Silla University Holds 'Untact Inauguration Ceremony' for 8th New President Kim Chung-seok Kim Chung-seok, the 8th President of Silla University.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The inauguration ceremony of Kim Chung-seok, the 8th president of Silla University, will be held untact at 11 a.m. on December 1.


Silla University canceled the inauguration event that gathers many people in consideration of the safety of university members and the local community due to the resurgence of COVID-19.


Instead, an untact inauguration ceremony will be held by releasing a pre-produced inauguration greeting video on December 1 through the university's website and YouTube channel.


President Kim Chung-seok will convey his gratitude to the students, faculty, staff, and local community who have grown together with Silla University since its founding in 1954 through the inauguration video. It also includes President Kim’s ambition to grow the university by joining forces with its members.


President Kim said, “I feel a great sense of mission in serving as the president of Silla University, which will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2024,” adding, “I will be a stepping stone to create an exciting campus for students and to enable the university to continue growing.”


President Kim, who said, “Students are at the center of all innovation,” stated that he will make the university a place that teaches students like their own children.


He emphasized, “Through student-centered university management and competency-based education based on convergence and practicality, we will nurture creative professionals needed in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”


President Kim graduated from the Department of Electronic Computing at Hongik University and earned his Master of Science and Doctor of Science degrees from the same university. He joined Silla University as a professor in 1990 and has held various administrative positions on campus, including Planning Director, Director of the Electronic Computing Center, Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs, and Deputy Director of the Comprehensive Information Center.
